I have some old fertilizer, my neighbor says it's still alright to put on my lawn, but I'm skeptical.

Is it still safe to use?  Huh

Old fertilizer should be fine to use, just don't let your neighbors see, they'll think you're cheap!  Cheesy

It depends on what you mean by "old fertilizer."  Regular fertilizer is just a few very basic chemicals with an unlimited shelf life if kept away from moisture.
